In Grey's Anatomy After Alex Exit, Jo is Left to Find Her Identity and a New Roommate?

After Alex Karev, the beloved pediatric surgeon of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital left, his ex-wife Jo Wilson is now faced to deal with the aftermath.
Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) is still coming in the terms that she is no longer Mrs. Karev. Her ex-husband Alex Karev(Justin Chambers), sent the divorce paper a few weeks earlier and informed that he wants to spend the rest of his life with his first wife, Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) and five-year-old twins.
Wilson was blindsided by Alex's decision; however, in the episode premiered on March 19, 2020, fans see her trying to move on. In the first step toward adjusting to her new life, she rejects the last name Karev.

When Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) addresses her as Karev, she clearly states that she is not Karev anymore. When asked how she would like to be addressed, she confesses that she do not know that yet. Hearing that, Grey suggests that its time to find the answer to the question.
When Meredith and Wilson again meet to work in Grey's pro bono cases, Wilson is already with the answer.
“It’s Wilson now, Wait, I don’t like that either. For now, it is Dr. Jo,"
In addition to that, she also put a sticker over Karev on her lab coat.
In the second step toward moving on, she finds herself a roommate. She invited Dr. Levi Schmitt(Jake Borelli) to stay with her, who was searching for a place after his break-up with Dr. Nico Kim (Alex Landi).

Schmitt was thankful for the offer but made clear he do not want any romantic relationship with her. He emphasized that he is a gay man, and their past hook-up was just a one-time thing.
Jo was amused by his reaction and made clear she is not looking for a romantic partner. She gave the invite because her house is too empty after her ex-husband left. Furthermore, she suggested that they can be super sad together.
It would be interesting to see what complications the new dynamics between Jo and Schmitt will bring in the future. Similarly, it will also be interesting to see if "Grey's Anatomy" will able to complete this season or not. On March 13, 2020, the production of the show was halted due to the COVID-19. As of today, Only 21 out of the original 25 episodes are filmed, and the status of the remaining four episodes is not clear.
In the meantime, enjoy the promo of the next episode that is set to premiere on March 26, 2020.
